The Bauchi State Immunization Accountability Scorecard 2024, developed by the Africa Health Budget Network and the African Field Epidemiology Network through the Zero-Dose Learning Hub, provides a vital assessment of the state's progress in routine immunization financing and service delivery. Bauchi demonstrated strong political will in 2024 by increasing its approved health budget to ₦45.1 billion (up from ₦30.4 billion in 2023) and achieving a high budget release rate of 92.6 percent for the health sector. Despite these financial gains, the scorecard highlights a critical "implementation gap." Penta 1 and Penta 3 coverage remain below 40 percent in many Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) facilities, with significant disparities across local government areas. To address this, the report recommends that the state prioritize releasing at least 80 percent of government-approved immunization funds into the basket fund in 2025 and implement targeted interventions to reduce vaccine dropout rates.
