In 2019, the National Health Mission and the Government of Haryana collaborated with J-PAL South Asia to pilot an ambassador and text message program aimed at increasing immunization rates in Palwal, Gurugram, and Mewat. Utilizing the ANMOL mobile application, the pilot focused on cost-effectively identifying and enrolling community ambassadors to promote routine immunization. Despite challenges with the uptake of the ANMOL app, especially in rural areas like Mewat, the program successfully engaged 419 auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs) and achieved high enrollment rates. The pilot highlighted the need for enhanced tech literacy among frontline workers and identified alternative pathways for scaling the program across Haryana.
