In January 2026, icddr,b hosted a dissemination seminar to share results from the Learning Hub study on identifying and reaching zero-dose and under-immunized children in Bangladesh. Chaired by Dr. Sara Maria Salway and attended by Mr. A. T. M. Saiful Islam (Additional Secretary, MOHFW), the event highlighted successful area-specific interventions across rural and urban Bangladesh. Key takeaways included:
- Impact: Valid full immunization coverage increased in intervention areas, while ZD/UI prevalence declined significantly in hilly, plain, and urban sites.
- Cost-Effectiveness: Economic evaluation showed the program is highly cost-effective and scalable.
- Policy Recommendations: Experts called for uninterrupted vaccine supplies, increased human resources, and the integration of digital tools like the E-screening checklist app.
The seminar concluded with a commitment to use these evidence-based findings to scale up immunization efforts and reach the country's most vulnerable populations.
